I WANT TO INVEST

I Want To Invest More Than R1 Million

Individuals looking to invest capital over R1 million outside of South Africa are entitled to a foreign investment allowance of up to R10 million per calendar year, suitable for offshore investment portfolios, property, bank accounts or other investments.

Foreign Investment Allowance Explained

A taxpayer in good standing and over 18 years old can invest up to R10 million in their own name outside the Common Monetary Area (CMA-Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia) per calendar year.

The taxpayer must obtain an AIT(Approval of International Transfers)  from SARS, valid for 12 months.

These funds may not be reinvested into the CMA countries, thereby creating a loop structure or being re-introduced as a loan to a CMA resident.
